Linux server upgrades scheduled for Thursday

Linux servers in our shared hosting environment have important security updates that need to be applied. The updates require reboots so there will be downtime for Web, FTP, and database services during the upgrade window. We expect 5 to 20 minutes of downtime per server depending on file system checks.

Email with blank Subjects and Body

A failure with our Email Spam filter service caused some messages to be delivered with blank subjects and message bodies.

We've resolved the problem and we're investigating how issues like this can be automatically detected in the future. Unfortunately, there is no way to retrieve the missing information, so where the message is blank please reply to the sender and ask them to resend the message.

This incident has made us aware that some sites are dependant upon email delivery for mission critical applications. We strongly recommend that email is used for notifications only and that important business data like orders, and bookings are also stored in a database or flat-file.

We apologise for the impact this outage has had on your business.

Network issues affecting all services

We experienced a network outage affecting all of our services from 08.40am to 09.10am.

The network outage that occurred in the morning was actually due to a Denial Of Service (DOS) attack. Our system administrators blocked that attack from our firewall and then the services were restored.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we assure you that we acted swiftly to identify and fix the problem.

Scheduled Maintenance: Bandwidth Upgrade

One of our providers will be performing maintenance on their network to increase available bandwidth and improve performance across their network.

As a result, we will be running on a reduced amount of international bandwidth. Customers may experience some increased latency, reduced throughput, and packet loss during the maintenance window. However as this is scheduled for early on a Sunday morning and will affect international capacity only, we expect the impact of this to be minimal.

We thank you for your understanding while this work is completed, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
